Point-to-point solutions can be attractive from a convenience and pricing perspective but they only solve a small piece of a very complex puzzle. Over time, the time and resource costs add up to much more than a long-term platform approach. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that point-to-point solutions will work with existing systems or with each other. Effectively, you’ve applied a band-aid – and you’ll be okay until the next problem invariably shows up. Platforms can handle multiple pieces of the puzzle and you don’t have to worry about compatibility or scale.
